9 Quick Steps to Writing a Business Plan for Your Blog

Does your blog have a business plan? Or you are blogging without a plan? Of what importance is a business plan to a blogger? Well, I will advice you read on to find the answers you seek.

Research shows that over 70% of businesses are operating without business plans; in fact, the statistics is even higher when it comes to online businesses, blogging included. I bet you are also guilty of this. It is an established fact that a requisite for success in business is a plan. Now if a plan is a recipe for business success, why are most bloggers blogging without it? Well, I think that's a question you should answer yourself. Drawing up a plan for your blog is not compulsory but if you are serious about treating your blog as a business; then I will advice you put up a plan for your blog.

Just recently, I completed the process of selling a portion my blog. What I am trying to say in essence is that I just concluded the process of raising capital for my blog. To be sincere with you, I don't think I would have achieved the feat without a business plan. Now aside from raising funds for your blog, a plan can help you in the following ways:

3 Ways a Business Plan can Add Value to your Blog

a. A plan will keep you focused
The first and the most critical way a plan can help you is in the area of focus. When it comes to running a business, there are definitely a lot of issues fighting for attention; and this may lead to distraction. Nothing is more common than the story of bloggers who are jumping from one money-making scheme to another. The primary reason why these bloggers are so easily distracted is because they have no plan. The reason I stayed focused on one blog for three years was because I had a plan; I knew where I was going, I also knew my end point.

A plan can also help keep you in check even after you succeed. One reality about success is that it tends to make you arrogant. I know a lot of bloggers that started from scratch, grew big and forgot the initial purpose why they started blogging. A plan will help you avoid being among these set of arrogant bloggers. Regularly evaluating your plan will keep your effort in focus.

b. A plan is the key to developing a blogging strategy
A plan can function as a benchmark for you while crafting a short and long term strategy for your blog. Most bloggers only plan short term but if your blog is going to be relevant in the near future, then you must start planning today.

c. A plan will prove to investors that you are competent
What if you decide to sell your blog tomorrow? What if an investor shows interest in your blog? What will you do? A good way to show an investor your competence as an entrepreneurial blogger is to grant him a sneak preview at your business plan and other financial records of your blog. Doing this will prove to the investor that you know your business like the palm of your hand; and this can boost the value of your blog.

Now since I have taken my time to explain why your blog needs a plan, let's go into the details of how to write a business plan for your blog.

9 Quick Steps to Writing a Business Plan for your Blog

1. The executive summary
The executive summary is what familiarizes your blog with any individual reading your plan. It includes a concise overview of the idea backing the establishment of the blog, your purpose, objectives and overall strategy.

2. Blog Details
This is where you highlight the notion behind the blog's conception and how you came up with the idea to create the blog. In this part, you have to describe specifically the idea, research result, niche analysis and your targeted audience.

3. Your blog objectives
In this section, you need to describe the aim of your blog, its short and long-term goals, its vision and mission statement; and the blog's growth strategy.

4. Your Bio
This is where you highlight your blog management team and what their purposes are. Are you the sole owner of the blog? Or you are just a partner? In this section, you will need to explain the blog ownership structure; and the faces behind the blog. Information needed here include the names and backgrounds of members of the management team and their tasks. Also to be added is their area of specialization, prior accomplishments, strengths and weaknesses, etc.

5. Your Monetization Strategy
Are you running a non-profit blog? If no, how do you plan to generate revenue from the blog? You have to explain that in this part of your business plan. Will you monetize your blog with affiliate programs, advertisements, donations, product sales or services? You have to put it down in writing here.

6. Your market potential
This is where you highlight in details the fundamentals and outcome of your research.

Why did you target the niche your blog is situated in?
Is the niche small or huge?
Is the niche a growing trend or a declining one?
Is the niche narrow or broad?
What is the local and global search volume of your keywords?
How many percent of the total search volume can you pull to your blog?

These are questions you must answer before even creating your blog.

7. Your marketing strategy
How will you broadcast to the world that you can satisfy their needs? How do you intend to attract traffic to your blog? How much is your intended budget for publicizing your blog? Will you promote your blog in print media, television, on the Web or all of these? Will your marketing tactics focus more on search engine optimization, joint ventures, free campaigns or paid campaigns? What marketing tools will be needed and at what cost? Who are the major competitors in your niche? How do they attract traffic to their blog? How did they monetize their blog? What percentage of market share do they control? All these need to be listed out in your plan.

8. Your financial projection
This is where you compile a summary of your projected financial earnings. This is actually the part that interests investors more.

9. Your exit strategy
This is the section that most bloggers don't want to talk about. Most bloggers think they will live and die with their blog but in reality, it's not possible. You must relinquish control of your blog someday; whether you like it or not. So instead of leaving your blog to fate, why not plan for it in advance? A good plan must include a part that lays out the yardstick with which you will use to decide when to call it quits. Even if you don't intend selling your blog, just prepare an exit strategy. An exit strategy is a sign of financial intelligence; it is also a contingency plan just in case things don't go as planned.

In conclusion, I strongly believe this outline will be of help when writing your own business plan and just before I drop my pen; I want to ask a question. Do you really think a business plan can add value to a blog? I would love to hear your opinion in the comment below.

Make Things Up to Truly Engage Your Online Visitors

Once upon a time there was a website visitor who started reading a blog post about making things up. The reader sat in his office surround by books and files gripped by the words scrolling past his eyes. Surely, it could not be true, he thought. The blog post was telling him not to tell the truth on his own website. The website visitor sat their stunned, staring at the screen with his mouth wide open in amazement. How on earth could it be worthwhile making things up instead of telling people the truth, he thought.

You might be thinking the same as our blog reader - surely I can't be advising you to make things up on your website. But I am. Honest...!

New research shows that when people read fiction they become much more emotionally engaged with the subject. The researchers used fictional accounts of voters and gave them to people who were due to vote in elections. The people who read stories where the main character was very similar to them actually voted in higher numbers than people who read stories where the characters were remote. In other words, when people read fiction with which they identified it changed their behaviour.

Story telling is an essential component in all communication. Indeed, news media call everything they do "stories" and when you watch TV shows like X-Factor you get the story behind each contestant, which often looks at their triumph over adversity. And what do the judges do? Well they ensure there is conflict - an essential component of a good story. The show may parade itself as a talent contest, but in reality it is a series of stories - and that's central to its success.

This new research adds to the massive amount of material available which shows how fundamental the concept of story is to communication. It suggests now that by using stories you can change behaviour. If you want your website visitors to do certain things, then telling them fictional stories about what other people have done could help. Of course your stories must be realistic and you need to identify the fact that they are made up (otherwise you'll generate mistrust once you are found to be lying). But if you use stories then you can increase engagement and produce behavioural changes in your website visitors.

So, for example, imagine you are a business consultant offering management advice. A set of fictional tales about managers in certain situations could well help engage people. Similarly, what if you are an SEO company? You could produce a set of short stories about people desperately trying to get better placings on search engines. Think of them as case histories you make up. Just as long as you make it clear that these are fiction, you can engage your readers and make it likely that they change their behaviour - such as taking that trial of your SEO software or booking an appointment with your management consultancy.

Stories are important, whether fiction or fact, but too few websites use the concept of story telling - much to their detriment.

Going Public

At some point and time, and if the stars align most business owners dream about going Public. They want to offer an initial public offering (IPO) because they want their company to be publicly traded. However, there are some companies that decide that being a privately held company is good enough for them. So do you think that individuals should Go Public also?

At some point you are going to have to live your passion. You are going to have to strap everything on your back and ride with the waves, and you are going to have to declare that you are going public with whatever it is you are doing. As an aspiring professional blogger, Network Marketer and Entrepreneur I have dreams of finally going public and I know exactly what that is going to look like, do you? Or better yet, how would you go about going public?

Well to me its all about Application. How do you apply the necessary skills that you are learning to the process? I will tell you this its absolutely not going to be easy when you do decide to go public. Most of us are aspiring to take our dreams and goals to the next level which I consider Public domain. We sit and we study, we practice, we teach, and we apply what we learn.

Here are two thoughts to remember;
Application is everything. Its what you Do that matters.

Everyone knows that my blog is focused around the Network Marketing industry and Leading with purpose in an industry that has so many misconceptions. So many people believe that there is something negative associated with the Network Marketing industry, but little do some know that more successful and well rounded individuals belong to the industry.? My goal is to shed a positive light on the industry and show people that the Network marketing and Direct sales industry birthed many individuals like Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Randy Gage and more..So why is it that more individuals don't go Public with their decision to help others? Truly its all Network marketing is, helping others see themselves better than they see themselves and in turn they can make a generous living by helping people. I believe the reason why I was drawn to the industry was because I felt that there needed to be positive changes made and it was my way to help so many people that are struggling now to make ends meet. The questions that popped into my head were;
What if I can help a single mom earn an extra 1k this month, how would that affect her? What if I can help the dad that works over 80+ hours a week and don't get to see his family as much? What If I can help the school teacher that is under paid and over-worked to earn some additional income? What about the Church organization that is going Bankrupt because tithing is down? What about being able to generate enough income so that we could feed the homeless and buy more clothes?

I still feel that this is the best way to create a passive residual income stream that can help a Family monthy stay afloat. Did you know that the average household could have used just an additional $300 to stay from foreclosing on their home? Imagine if they only knew that they could start a business for little to low cost and earn potentially more than they make on their full time job, would that not be so fascinating? So how can that person that is surrounded by negativity Go Public / Break free?
Make a public declaration of a new association - Now is going to be the time when you are going to draw the line in the sand and break ties with all Negative things and people. Now you need to start making new associations with people that are like minded individuals.
Make a personal declaration of association - This means you have to be so fed up that you personally decide that you can't stand your current situation any longer and now is the time to change. You must take it upon yourself to want to get better and help others.

So now is the time if you are working on something Big, something HUGE that is going to change lives you need to Go Public with it. Others need to feel your passion and they need to know your cause.

Question: Have you already gone Public? Have you taken the necessary steps to succeed?

Planning an Organized Marketing Strategy for Online Business Development

The key to creating an organized online marketing strategy is planning. If your only business isn't developed using a streamlined approach to planning, you'll soon find yourself overloaded with stuff you didn't get done and don't have time to do. Worse, you'll be in that predicament with not enough profit to hire it done.

By using these simple, step-by-step procedures to plan your business online, you'll grasp a handle on your business quickly with plenty of time to enjoy your business profits.

1. Schedule time to plan every week and follow your plan. You may choose to use an online calendar, a notebook, or a 30 day file, the method you choose isn't as important as the process of using it.

Check it frequently.Add everything to the calendar.Include time for yourself in your schedule.Make all appointments stand out, so you don't forget them.Make time for admin and writing duties, they are important too.

2. Generate a ToDo List and keep it handy. This MUST be on paper. The sense of completion you will feel as you check off each item and cross them off your list is worth the extra paper activity each day. Don't pass up this opportunity to recognize your accomplishments.

NOTE: Each morning, before you get started, cross three things off your list that you know you're not going to get done that day. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

3. Spiral notebook. I'm going to say it again, because this is important. SPIRAL NOTEBOOK. Get a thick one with some folders and keep some paperclips attached. Write absolutely everything in your spiral notebook, because it's your record for the time you've got it. Notes, ideas, suggestions, names, addresses, contact information, goals, projects, discussions, topics for writing, information you MUST keep, and anything else you happen to want to jot down. Write it in your spiral notebook. This is your book, dated from beginning to end. Write on front and back pages, nobody will read it but you, and you want all the details.

There are so many pieces to planning your business online, you're going to want everything written down, organized and completely strategized. I always recommend new business owners find a business coach or consultant to help organize a business start up, because without one, it's like running blind into a mine field. The results of a well planned business from the beginning are immediate profits.

Nobody can guarantee those immediate profits on the front, but you're far more likely to have them, if your business is well planned.

With all the duties of a new business to line up and organize, you'll find more ways to procrastinate if you aren't ready with instant answers to your key problems of management. Get focused, get organized, and get to profits with our organizational strategy.

Are You Working Yourself to Death Throwing Nets Into the Sea, Hoping for Customers?

When I was a kid, I would go fishing with my uncle at the local lake. To be honest, I didn't know anything about fishing. I just wanted to get my hands on that shiny fishing rod. I remember when he gave me the rod....I threw it into the water "just hoping" to catch at least one fish. I was so desperate to catch anything.

I went to the top of a rock thinking, "maybe I'll catch something right here." I laid down on the dirt thinking, "maybe I wasn't close enough that time." I even stepped into the water "hoping" I would get closer to the fish. "Maybe they didn't see me that time."I did everything I could possibly do to catch a fish.

By the end of our fishing trip, I was dirty, wet and disappointed. Oh, guess what? I didn't catch a thing!

See, my entire strategy was off and the more I became desperate...the more I took desperate actions. I didn't really have a plan and all of the adults were doing their own thing. No one told me about fish bait to entice my fish. No one told me about certain techniques that I could've used to catch my fish.

All I knew how to do was to throw my fishing rod into the lake, hoping to catch a fish.

My friends, if that's what you're doing to get clients then, STOP IT NOW. You are going to spread yourself thin and you'll be stressed out. That's not a strategy and certainly not a solution. You need to connect with your clients on the level they're at now so they can trust you enough to buy from you. No one buys from someone they don't trust. You have to build rapport and earn trust.

Do you know the #1 reason that people buy products and services?

People buy based on their emotions. Are you connecting with your prospects and clients emotionally? I don't care what all the "gurus" have told you and all of that other foo foo nonsense. If people do not connect with you emotionally, they WON'T BUY FROM YOU.

So, how do you connect with them emotionally? How do you connect with them on the level they're at now?

You can do this by doing "listening research." This is one of the most important things you should be doing every single day. This step alone can either make or break your entire business success. Some take it lightly and I can guarantee you they're probably broke.

Moving on...the way you do listening research is by "listening" to what your ideal clients have to say.

Ask yourself these important questions:

What are they struggling with?

What do they need help with?

How can I make their life easier?

What can I do right now to help them?

One of the #1 ways to do listening research is by doing surveys. It's so simple yet so brilliant. You are going to ask them, through Facebook, Twitter, Webinars, Teleseminars and even by email.

If you don't have any clients, no problem! You are going to do a Google search and type in your niche market and the word "forum" after. So, let's say that you want to do some research on jewelry makers and you want to find out how to better serve them. You would type in jewelry makers' forums. You will find TONS of information!

You need to pay attention to what people are saying. What are they struggling with? Are they struggling with trying to string the jewelry together? Or maybe they're trying to find out where they can get a better price on loop rings?

Then you're going to go on over to your competitor's website and review their blog posts. Pay close attention to what their clients are saying in the comment section. What do they need help with? What are some areas they just haven't mastered yet?

You see where I'm going with this? Then you're going to use those EXACT same words in your copy throughout your entire website/blog, sales pages, emails, phone conversations, videos etc...to connect with your clients on the level they're at.

So, how do you know the level they're at? Because they told you! Your clients will love you because you have taken the time out to listen to their needs and wants. This will help you to serve them through your products and services. This will also help you to build your list and make running a business so much easier.

Remember, it's not about you. It's not about what you want for them or what you think they should have. You have to listen to what the marketplace wants and needs. You will know what people want because they will tell you.

Some Basic SEO Blog Tips

Blogging is something which has taken the online world by a storm. The concept of blogging has been popular ever since its introduction. It not only helps in online recognition but also may help you to earn a lot of money. The following are some of the basic SEO blog tips that will be extremely useful in writing quality blogs.

Any blog revolves around the keywords. However, you need to devote a decent amount of time and effort in finding the right topic and keywords for your blog. The keywords should not only be popular but should be relevant to your blog as well. It is recommended that you try to put the keyword in the domain name as well. This will help to establish credibility and relevancy to your website and will also improve its search engine rankings. If you already have too many topics on your blog then you should try to re-label or regroup them. There is absolutely no point in putting too many topics in one blog. You should also avoid copy/pasting content on your blog as it may get your blog banned or penalized. The language should be easy and reader friendly. You need to ensure that the visitor enjoys reading your post. Another good SEO tip is that you make use of the title optimization widget on your blog. This will definitely help a lot in improving its ranking in the search engines. The layout of the blog should be nice, well designed and user friendly. It should be able to create a brilliant backdrop and impression in the mind of the viewer. Using AdSense is also a smart SEO blog tip, which will further popularize your blog. Also, you should encourage others to sign up for RSS feeds for your blog.

SEO is all about the content. You should be able to write quality content. That's not all; the content should contain the relevant images, pictures, etc in the text. Once your content is ready and published on the blog, you need to also check the loading time of the blog. If you feel that the loading time is simply too much then you can always make modifications to the widgets and codes and make them even simpler. Also, wherever possible you should provide links to your earlier posts with the help of anchor text. By doing this, you will improve the internal liking of the blog.

SEO blog is a hot topic of discussion these days. Try to learn some really good and effective SEO tips.

Appropriate Plug Ins Are Essential For Your Blog

Many folks have understood that starting a blog can be a great way to make extra money for their online business. Quite a lot of you understand that the search engines love blogs, and every post you make can end up earning you more money. Producing the most money out of your blog can come down to using the correct plug in's to both earn money as well as improve your rankings. As you continue to read this article you will see that we are going to be discussing plug in's for your blogs and the ones you ought to be using.

The all in one SEO plug in is one of the plug in's you should be making use of on your blog to help with your ranking. Every person knows that making money from your blog is dependent on whether you are generating traffic or not, and this plug in can help with that. In order to get the very best search engine rankings for your posts you need to understand that each post must be optimized for the major search engines. While we don't have sufficient time to go over how to use this plug in you are able to find instructions on the web site that offers this plug in.

With regards to monetizing your blog you will find that the easy AdSense plug in is one of the plug in's you ought to have installed. The reason this plug in is so vital to your success is because you will be able to actually add AdSense links throughout the content of your posts. I ought to mention that you don't have to use this for only AdSense since you can simply add banners which point to affiliate products instead of using Google to monetize your blog. Mainly because you can use various kinds of programs to monetize your blog with this plug in it makes it a terrific addition to your blog.

Social bookmarking is also something which is huge nowadays and the reason you should have a plug in that will automatically submit the new posts to the social bookmarking sites. Using pingFM or the only wire plug in will permit you to automatically make this happen without you having to take time to submit these manually. By utilizing this strategy you are going to discover that because you are building back-links you are going to be getting better search engine positioning, and you are going to also be getting direct traffic from the sites themselves.

If you perform in a search for traffic plug in's you'll probably find hundreds, nevertheless these three are pretty much the best place to start. An additional thing I want to mention is that if you use too many plug in's your blog will load slowly, and this can be a bad thing. Your search engine rankings can be negatively affected if it takes too long for your blog pages to load, which is something you want to avoid.

Daily Blogging Tips To Explode Your Production

Throwing in some new daily blogging tips to your normal daily regime can greatly increase your traffic, leads, and sales.

If you've looked at anything out there by some of the leading income earners in network marketing and internet affiliate marketing they all have one thing in common. What is it? That's right, they BLOG!

When you write a blog post focused around one main "keyword" you give seekers information they're searching for. Blog about what you're interested in, don't blog about dull stuff, or negative stuff, or subjects you don't think people want to read. If it's worth reading, it will be read.

Tip #1:

The first tip in our "daily blogging tips" sequence is to focus your blog post around a researched "keyword." So, I said before to blog about something you're interested in or other topics that make you an authority. Once you have these interesting topics in mind start brainstorming keywords people could be looking for at Google.

Go over to Google and do a search for the Google keyword tool. We're going to use this tool to find our keyword. Here is an example of my keyword: "chiropractor Indianapolis." Since I'm a chiropractor and my business is located in Indianapolis this is the perfect keyword I want to rank on the first page of Google for.

In the Google keyword tool you want to search for a word that has between 800-1100 searches per month with very low competition. Which gives you a chance to "win" that keyword.

Daily Blogging Tips #2:

So, now we have our main keyword now let's get down to business on on-page search engine optimization (SEO).

Two things make up a good SEO program. Those are on-page factors and off-page factors.

How to get your on-page factors right on target:

We have our keyword, and this needs to be the primary focus of our blog post. So, all the content in the post will be relevant to this targeted keyword.

Be absolutely sure your keyword is in the following Points in your Post:

- Keyword in the Title

- Put near the beginning of the description

- Have it in the headline

- It needs to be in the first Sentence of the post

- It has to be used in every 100 words or so

- One keyword in bold, italics, quotation marks.

- Last sentence of your post

If you knock out every one of these on-page factors and you follow every one of our daily blogging tips you'll be a few steps ahead of your competition, and you'll be headed to the first page of Google.

How to get your off-page factors right on target:

Off-page factors are links back to your original blog post. There are a few main types of links we want to get to enhance our chance at the first page.

The first type of link is a social media link or "bookmark."

I use ping.fm to distribute my post to all of my social media accounts. This gives us a link back to our post. This is what Google is looking for now, they're looking for "social signals" that people are reading your content.

The next type link in our daily blogging tips is a contextual link you can get from article directories.

You can submit your content to some of the top article directories out there such as EzineArticles.com, ideamarketers.com, GoArticles.com, and articlebase.com. These article directories give you a link back to the original post in the author resource box.

Be sure not to try to leave a link in the body box because some directories don't allow that and won't approve your article.

The third and final type of link in our daily blogging tips is a link from another blog or website.

If someone likes and uses your content or maybe takes your post and posts it to their blog they'll give you credit as the original and link back to your blog post.

Another way to get a link on their blog is to comment and leave a link back.

If you do comment make sure it's a quality comment on their post or your comment will get marked as spam. If you add a quality comment they'll be happy to give you a link back.

Tip #3:

Tip 3 is to blog every day for 100 days straight. Follow everything I mentioned above for 100 days and you'll have 100 pieces of good unique content making it's way to the top of Google. This will drastically change your business.

Daily Blogging Tips #4

Have a strong "call to action" in every post. Are you selling something? If so, then you'll want a strong attention-grabbing phrase to get readers to click through your link and purchase the product or service you are promoting.

Here's an example of a strong call to action to place in the P.S. section of your post.

Back To Blog Basics - An Explanation Of The Main Elements Of A Blog

The word blogging comes from the two words Web log, and can be one the most powerful tools available to promote your online business.

Whether you work from home and your website promotes the product or service which you sell, or you're a manufacturer working from factory premises, blogging plays an important role in building a relationship with prospective clients or customers and will encourage them to visit your website's product pages.
Blogs can be created from scratch, just like a web site, or can be added to the existing web site of the business. In addition to writing about your products, sharing tips and advice, blogs give you the opportunity to include discussion forums and video presentations.
As you post new articles, the older blog posts move down the page, and will automatically be archived on a periodic basis. By placing your posts into categories, you will allow users to type the relevant category name in the search text area to access your older blog posts.
Navigation from your blog to the main pages of your website is also very important. Visitors should be able to click on a link from the post on your blog, and be taken to the sales and information page for more information about the product or service in your article.
It's always a good idea to encourage comments from your readers. After reading the different blog articles related to the various products and services, the users should be provided with an option to provide their comments. By giving this option, the blog becomes an interactive tool rather than a web site which just provides information. Involving people who are interested in your articles, is a good way to build those valuable relationships which will hopefully encourage them to become customers in future.
Social networking has changed the way people communicate with each other. What started off as a simple personal messaging service has evolved so that people now use it to keep in touch with trends within their particular interests, to pass on recommendations and to look for recommendations. So, by providing the link to the popular social media tools such as Facebook, Stumbleupon, Reddit and Twitter, at the end of your blog posts, prospective clients get the opportunity to follow the company's product related articles.

As always, the content that goes in to the blog should be search engine friendly, so don't forget to make sure that your article and particularly, your title, includes your keywords and phrases.

Creating Backlinks Through Guest Blogging

All businesses want to create more backlinks, but the big question is how to do it without falling foul of Google and the other search engines. Guest blogging is a perfect solution for individuals, businesses and the search engines alike. The blog site benefits because it has a well written and interesting article which will encourage readers to visit its pages, the visitor to the blog is happy because they can learn more about the subject they're interested in, and you win because the blog post will have a link back to your own website. The search engines are content because they see guest blogging as providing a good service to internet users.

Finding suitable web sites who accept guest bloggers, is as simple as looking for anything on the internet. Just use the keywords "guest blog or blogging" along with the keyword for your niche topic.

Once the results come back, take a look at the top sites to make sure that they complement your own and more importantly, that you and your articles, will complement theirs. Contact the editor or owner of the blog to ask if there's an opportunity to post blogs as a guest. You will more than likely be asked to post some of your writing so that they can review it.

Consider the length of the blogs that the website wants. Some websites will want you to write blogs of 1,000 words. So make sure that your sample blogs are of this length. There are also websites that requires you to write various samples before they can allow you to blog as a guest. Be prepared to submit several articles for approval, all which must be unique in their content.

To make sure that you present yourself as a competent guest blogger, you must make sure that your articles are of the highest quality. The quality of your blog will determine whether you will be accepted as a guest blogger. Obviously, the more passionate you are about your subject, the easier it will be for you to continue to produce good quality and interesting articles, so try to build your niche around a subject you know.

Congratulations! You've been invited to write as a guest blogger for your chosen blog site. DON'T POST CRAP. Make sure that your articles are consistently up to the standard of those you submitted for approval in the first place. Put yourself in the position of the host blogger and the reader of the blog post. Would you accept sub standard work? Would you read a boring badly written article?

It is also important that you record the guest blogging opportunities that you get, particularly if you're submitting articles to more than one site. You can record comments that you get from these websites and monitor which subjects have the best feedback. More original articles written around the same topic could be just what the readers to your host blog are looking for.

From time to time, sites may reply they are not taking blogs now but in the future they will. Keeping a record of their details might be useful for future projects.

How To Set Up A WordPress Blog On CPanel Hosting

There are two ways to use the WordPress platform for a blog. Both versions are free, but there is one big difference. In one version, WordPress installs the blog on your computer and hosts it for you. The other way to do it is to use CPanel to host your own WordPress blog. Serious blogger usually use the latter method. Here is how to use CPanel to host your own WordPress blog.

First let's get the basics cleared. CPanel is a popular hosting panel. You can use this to host a WordPress blog, but in order to do this you already need to have a domain name and a hosting account. While installing and hosting WordPress is free, the hosting account and domain name usually aren't.

To install WordPress using CPanel, you need to use Fantastico. To do this, first go to the CPanel home page. Here there is a small home icon on the top left that takes you there. On the homepage, scroll down until you get to the software and services group of icons. The Fantastico icon is a blue smiley face. Open Fantastico and in the left hand column click on WordPress in the blogs section.

This opens up a form, which enables you to install a WordPress blog on your domain name. The first section in the form is about the domain name. If you want your domain name to go directly to your WordPress blog, you can leave the add-on domain name field blank. If not, you can enter the sub domain name in the first field. Next comes the directory field.

If you want WordPress to be installed in the root directory, this field should be left blank. If you would like to install it in a new sub-directory, this can be created by entering a name here. The installer creates a new directory, so this should not be an existing directory.

The next fields are about administrative access to the blog. This is where you enter the admin name, as well as the password. It is important to choose a secure password as this allows you to enter the blog's administration area. You can change the username later on if you want to.

The section following this is about base configuration. This includes an author nickname - this is usually the name that appears on blog posts as the author, and can be changed later on if need be. You also need to enter your email address here. This is the address to which any administrative emails are sent and like the nickname, can be changed later on.

Once the form is filled press install WordPress, and voila, it's all done! Any customisation to themes can be made from the appearance panel. You can also manage installed themes and add new themes from the same panel. Using Fantastico on CPanel is the easiest way to host a professional WordPress blog.

Making a Good Blog Post - Don't Follow the Crowd and Be Creative

There are millions of people trying to make a blog and trying even harder to get it noticed. When making a good blog it is all about the post and the content. Spending too much time on the look and the ads is just going to leave you in the white space of Google with one big headache. What will happen next? You will most likely give up and all of your big plans for making money off a great blog will vanish into thin air. It is important to remember that patience is your best friend when it comes to making a blog. Another big thing is your post and the uniqueness of them.

If you think about it, most people are thinking of the money, keywords, Google, ads and appearance. People are not going to find your blog no matter how clean and great it looks. No one is just going to visit your blog and click on some ads. What do you do when you go to a site full of ads? You avoid them completely, it is all about the writing. Now I am not saying that money is out of the question. The point is having your mind on the money too hard is going to leave you with failure. You need to have passion for writing. Instead of thinking about the money, you need to be thinking on how your post is going to impact someone. One great post will crush a million week post cluttered with keywords.

Don't follow the crowd.

There are tons of people following the same interest with the same keywords and the same adds. You are just attaching yourself to a long list of many fighting for that top spot in Google. You end up buying software like keyword tools, article submission software, back link services. Everyone is doing the same thing and most of them have just wasted their time and money trying to make money. If you want to make a blog about movie reviews, weight loss, fashion, gaming etc., I hate to say it but, those spots are already filled, you don't want to waste your time. All you will be doing is spending your time competing with back links and power. You will be spending most of your time searching for tricks to get your blog noticed rather than the actual blog post and content. This is when people give up.

The way you are using keywords.

It is really hard to write when your mind is consumed with fitting certain keywords in the post. I have seen many post with a keyword I was trying to use and you really do not see that keyword in the post at all. That is because the post was written very well with a good title. The keyword it self blossomed like a flower and was completely relevant with the entire post and title. Search engines are not looking for the post with the most keywords. They are looking for the post that is most relevant to the keyword with good content. Don't think of how you are going to fit keywords in, think of how you can make the keyword have some impact. This will expand your ideas for writing.

Ideas for writing and making a good post.

Passion, love stories, humor, good ideas, controversy, strong opinions, true stories, interesting, these are the key substances for making a good post. Don't write for Google, write from your heart. Put some passion and feeling into what you are writing. Don't think about when or how people are going to click on your links or ads. Think of someone reading your entire post and how it is going to make them feel or react. If you are thinking about the reader instead of the money, your post will have a much bigger impact which will provoke comments. This will give your blog life and attention.

All it takes is one great post.

Lets say you have already written many blog post and you have found that they are not getting any attention, readers or response. Don't give up or feel defeated, all it takes is one great post to get many visitors to your blog. Think of something good and spend your time on it. Study and make your post shine. Book mark your post and spend your time trying to get attention to that one post instead of the blog it self. Instead of back linking your blog, back link your post. If you feel that your other post are good, then that one post will lead readers to your others.

Lets face it, when people are searching for something in particular, they are looking for answers, ideas and good stories. They are not looking to spend money or click on ads or links. Keep your blog clean and do not clutter it with ads. Having one great post with one good ad, will give you a better chance of making some money. Convince yourself that you are not trying to make money but, you are trying to get attention too your writing.

I started to make a blog and I gave up. I wrote this article because these are the things I did wrong. I have found that I enjoy getting feedback from my writing, it is a lot of fun and it has taken my mind of making money. The most important thing you need in your blog post is comments and reaction. When there are many people commenting on a post, that is when it will get noticed. You need to provoke reaction and interest. Square one, it is all about the content.

To Blog or Not to Blog - There Is No Question

New clients ask this all of the time. They want to know if they should set up a blog on their site. Let me nip the suspense on the bud here - YES, they should, and so should you.

The follow up to that decisive response usually revolves around the concern that perhaps their industry doesn't warrant a blog. For example, business owners in the manufacturing sector may feel that the topic may be a little "dry" for a blog gobbling audience. Who wants to read your thoughts on cement mixers? I don't, but do you know who does? Your customers. They're out there and they are online, searching for information on your product/service and by adding a blog to your communications "mix" you have a better shot at getting their attention.

This article, or blog piece, details why blogs are an important part of your online marketing strategy:

1. Google Gobbles Blogs

Google likes fresh content. Correction - it loves it. Google rewards (rankings) websites that continuously update their website with new and valuable content. However, for many businesses, adding new content to their website appears redundant when the site simply exists to provide set information about a product/service offering. For example, if you own a moving company, once your website is optimized and ranking well on Google, you don't want to mess with the success you've had so far by shifting things around for the sake of it or by adding new pages that repeat the same content that is found elsewhere on the site. Google is wise to this practice anyways. Adding a blog however, provides your website with a channel to deliver fresh new content on a weekly basis.

2. Perceived Authority

You own the business and thus are considered by default to be an expert in your industry. By providing your take on your business and your product/service by maintaining a weekly blog you further validate yourself as an authority in the industry. This increases customer confidence.

3. Added Personality

In the past, a simple photo of a CEO, President, or GM planted beside the company mission statement in quotations or providing "team bios" did the trick to convey a personal touch. Today, the public demands more. By writing a weekly blog, complete with an avatar and personal online signature, you develop a personality for your business, one that customers can relate to.

4. Conversation with Customers Equals Conversion

Not only are customers better engaged when you provide them with a frequently updated blog to follow, you can optimize the blog to encourage two way conversation. By allowing comments from readers, you create conversation. They can ask questions for you to respond to and once that rapport is developed it is much easier to sell them in the future.

5. Encourages Social Sharing

Blogs optimized for readers to "like" and "share" articles on their Social Media networks allow you access to the sharing individual's network of friends and associates. This kind of referral is an invaluable "word of mouth" tool for dramatically increasing the reach of your marketing message. In addition, maintaining a blog provides your business with fresh content to use for posting on your own Social Media accounts.

Conclusion

OK, so if this article did its job, you are convinced that maintaining a blog for your website is essential. However, as with many of our clients, the prospect may feel like a daunting task, especially if you're not confident in your writing skills. This is when you dig into your businesses human resource reservoir to identify those with such a talent. Most writers "at heart" will jump at the opportunity. Another option is to outsource your blog contributor by securing an internet marketing company with a talented content developer ("ahem") to write the blog for your business, in YOUR voice.

Why Great Blog Design Is So Important

Over the last couple of years there has been an explosion of new blogs on the Internet, quite literally thousands every day. The main reason for this is that many business owners are starting to realise that blogging can help them achieve authority, build customer relationships and introduce their products and services. Other bloggers also explore the market for some extra income through affiliate links etc. Even if your blog is personal you may still want to see it bring a small cash injection every month. Whatever your reasons to blog, various factors have to be considered. One factor that many ignore is the design. Google is now including good coding and design into their algorithm so having a great design can really help improve your traffic.

Why It's so important

Some may say that design is not that important and what really matters is the content. Yes that's true but focusing on just one factor is dangerous. Let's face it, as a visitor to a website or blog the first thing you notice is the design, the ease of navigation, loading time, advertisement banners and thumbnail images. The number of bad designed websites that I visited over the years is staggering. Not only does this make me not want to read the articles I am also likely to leave very quickly and not come back.

One example of a bad designed website I happen to come across today had the following - small green text on a black background, flashy ads, pop-ups, slow loading time, and the sidebar seemed to have dropped below the post. The website actually has some decent information but it was not possible to read due to the size of text and distraction of flashy ad's and pop-ups. I would rather read a blog that has clear, light design with easy navigation - it's more professional isn't it.

But before you rush to your website to change anything let's start by having a clear idea of what direction you want your blog to go in. Great design needs to fin in with the content of the blog, appeal to the target audience and help best promote the product and services you are offering.

So let's look at some main design features to make your blog more appealing to your customers and followers.

Simplifying access and navigation

As I already mentioned, great design is not just about great pictures and striking colors. Your whole sites functionality depends on your design. This is everything from action button placement, to ease of navigation, quality of read and loading speeds. Because we live in a fast passed world and your customers need to find exactly what they are looking for with ease otherwise they will go elsewhere.

It can be quite frustrating searching a blog and not being able to find what you are looking for or eventually stumbling across it 25 minutes late. Therefore by providing your readers with ease of navigation will result in more happy users and may even boost your authority.

Creating the right banner

The first thing visitor's notice is the area above all the content called the banner. This is a good space to place your logo, blog title or social media profile links. Some banners are too high hence visitors need to scroll down to reach the post content. A good banner size should be between 150 and 200 pixels. There are also a number of softwares available to help you design the perfect banner. On that I recommend to my clients is SWFT, it's around 2.5 download MB and it will contains over 200 different effects and functions to assist you with a great banner design.

Choosing the right colors

As I described in the first example, using bright colors can be quite annoying. Some webmasters may thing that it helps draw attention however it doesn't and should be avoided if you want to look professional or even representative. This is a common issue a lot of newbies face. They create very colorful pages but if they could see it from eyes of their visitor they would know that the color scheme doesn't do any justice to their blog. Chose your colors wisely, check other blogs in your niche, ask friend or family for ideas, do some testing and ask some of your readers for feedback.

Avoiding Sidebar Clutter

Your sidebar is useful for navigation and sharing some information about your blog. Sometimes blogs have a couple of sidebars but usually just one. The sidebar is used to help user navigate through the site, but some webmasters tend to make their sidebars messy with overcrowded widgets, add-ons and ads. Take a look at your sidebar and ask yourself, will the used benefit from all these widgets? Another reason not to fill your sidebar with irrelevant stuff is because it will take focus away from content.

I hope these tips will benefit those of you who are starting in the world of blogging or want to change something about your current design. Avoiding these obvious mistakes will benefit you, your blog and sales in many ways. Having an edge over competition is what matters in this competitive world.

Three Reasons Why Your Opt-Ins Won't Work

These are three of the most common mistakes made by e-mail marketers.

* Your incentives are just not good enough. These days people will not give you the e-mail address without getting something reasonably valuable in return. It used to be that giving a free report was good enough, but not now. If you are giving an incentive for people to sign up for your list, there is a fine balance between offering something of real value but at the same time not giving too much away. For instance, let's say that you have something which gives value, such as software. What you could do is offer a "lite" version of your product. You have to be sure that what you are giving away actually does work in a basic sense, but impress upon the customer (after they've downloaded) that they can get the missing features (which are not necessary but highly desirable) if they pay a modest fee to upgrade.

* It is too difficult to sign up. This is enough to drive potential customers away in droves. If the signup process is too hard, people will get frustrated and quickly look for the red cross in the top right-hand corner. In order to overcome this, a marketer should have a squeeze page which is easy to read and is very clear to understand. The signup buttons should be as large as possible, so that the customer cannot miss seeing them. Another thing - don't ask for too much information on your signup form, because all you really need is their e-mail address. In fact, on my signup page that is all I ask them for - I don't even ask them for their name. Strangely enough, I get more signups when I just ask for e-mail address than I do when I asked them for their name as well.

* A confusing call to action. Now that we have assumed that you have got the customer sufficiently interested to actually sign up, your squeeze page must have a large and very distinctive call to action. The last thing you want is for your customer not to know what to do next. Even saying "click here" may not be enough, it is far better to have a large type button which says "click here to get your free report" or whatever incentive you are getting.

Of course there is a long hard road to go down to even get people to go to your squeeze page in the first place, and if they cannot find your squeeze page, then however good your opt in techniques are, potential customers will never see them. You have got to do whatever you can to get your squeeze page out there. This would include such tried and true methods as press releases, blogs, PPC marketing, social networking and forum marketing, just to name the obvious ones.

Remember, e-mail marketing is just like any other form of marketing - it is only effective when it is used properly. The above three points provide a good basic check list which you should match against your own opt in forms.

How a Blog Can Improve Your Business

Most of you have heard the term "blog" before, but how many realise what a blog can do for you? For some, they're dismissed as being something of a hobby, or a kind of personal journal. But blogs can hugely benefit your business in a lot of ways. If you're a website owner, a blog should be an an essential part of your online strategy, and here are a few reasons why.

First, What is a Blog?

For those who aren't completely sure about the definition of a blog, it's the short term for "web log", and means a website or section of a website where a number of entries or "posts" are presented in descending chronological order (ie, the newest ones appear at the top). There is no limitation on what the topic of a blog can be, so it can match your site exactly. Typically they share a range of content, information and opinions.

OK, So Why Do I Need One?

There are a huge number of benefits to adding a blog to your website. The most important ones are:
Blog content appears as real-time results. One of the main trends with search engine development over the past few years has been to bring fresher, newer results to searchers. With updates such as Google Caffeine, having a constant flow of interesting, sharable content will make the search engines love your site.
They can generate back-links. One of the most important ways to prove to Google that your website is high quality and worth recommending is to have other websites link back to it. This is no easy feat, but the social nature of a blog makes it much easier. The more interesting your content, the more people will link to it. And don't forget to utilise Facebook and Twitter!
It's a great way to communicate. Blogs are a super low-cost way to make additional contact with your customers. Use it to talk about new products and offers, as well as specialised advice and opinion pieces, and you'll have a solid, dedicated online following

Some Tips For Blog Writing
Post regularly - at least once a week.Know your target market - think about who your customers are and what they want to know.Choose topics carefully - select subjects that are relevant to your business, but also interesting to read about.Link to your other sites and social media accounts.Include keywords - choose relevant keywords and use them carefully to appear higher in the searches.

Blogging is a great new way to think about your online presence. If you haven't already, consider whether adding one could bring a whole host of benefits to your site.

The tech world is full of exciting developments, and it's important not to get left behind. If needing a blog is news to you, consider subscribing to a internet newsletter that keeps you up to date on new internet marketing techniques every month.

What Is the Best Time to Write Your Blog?

Recently, I've been spending more time on my web site and have increased the number of posts to my blog. It has got me to thinking as to what is the best time and what are the factors that affect my blogging.

I realise we are all different and some of us will work better early in the morning and some will only come to life late into the evening. For me, I need to start early and get as much of my article created before the rush of the day begins and my time management becomes challenged.

I find that there are three main reasons why I work better earlier in the day:

1. Less interruptions
As the day begins the possibility of interruptions that break your concentration is much higher. Once interrupted I find it is much harder to get back in the flow and continue with the article. The source of these interruptions are many and varied and I'm sure you can add many more to this list:

- Phone

- Email

- Social Media

- Meetings

- Instant Messaging

- Someone at the door

- Colleagues looking for advice/chat

- Family

2. Remove the worry that it still needs to be done
There is nothing worse than having a constant worry at the back of your mind that you still have that article to write. There is a threat that some event could occur that will prevent you from getting the article completed which will then mean you fall behind on your schedule. For me, writing in the morning also gives me a sense of achievement that I can carry into the day. So not only does it remove the negative and sometimes draining impact of worrying about the article but it also gives me a boost for the day.

3. Avoid the 'Unavoidable' Distractions
You can never predict what is going to happen during the course of a day and it maybe that the night time you allocated for writing your blog is taken up by another possibly more important activity. Whether this is helping a friend in a crisis or deciding to go down the pub there are more distractions that could impact the time you planned for writing your blog.

As you may have detected, I am a morning person and I plan to do about an hour each morning on my blog before I go to the gym. This doesn't necessarily mean I will complete the post. It may take a couple of days or I may even finish off in the evening. However, it will tend to be final editing and formatting that I would do in the evening as I often find my mind has been fried after a full day at work.

It's less important when you work as ultimately this will be when you feel at your most creative. If this happens to be at 11pm after a curry and a few beers then that is absolutely fine. What is important is that you have the discipline to get it done.

Also, bloggers have different motives for creating their blogs. Because of this, it will be hard for bloggers to fins tactics that will work for all of them.

Bloggers have various tactics to choose from. For one, there are some bloggers who rely on blog consultant to help them develop and enhance their blogs. On the other hand, there are some bloggers who wants to take care of such responsibility themselves. Going for DIY can be extremely hard. However, it can be easier with some amazing and effective tips. For Making the most out of your business blog, try to make use of these amazing tips!

Tip #1: Have Your Stand Alone Domain Name. Having your very own domain name is very important. It is best to have myblog.comor at the very least, have a directory of your already existing site---mysite.com/blog. You can also opt for a sub domain. Do not ever opt for any hosted services which does not permit you to make use of your own domain name.

Tip #2: Make use of a blog software which allows customization. If you do not have any idea which software to use, I can recommend two of my favorites-- Moveable and WordPress.

Tip #3: Personalize your blog. Let your personality and attitude show through your blog. For this, try customizing the look of your blog and its feel templates. This will make you stand out above the rest of the blogs.

Tip #4: Seek out other people's opinions. If you wish to make your site better, it is a must that you get some of your readers' opinions. You can do this by entering certain forums or discussion threads. In these posts, try to promote your posts that you think can be of big use to the people in the forum. After that, ask them for any feedbacks or comments regarding your blog post. In this way, you will get blog enhancing tips---straight from the readers themselves!

Tip #5: Take a look at authority blogs in your niche. Take some time to research about what blogs hold the center of influence in your related industry. Take a look at what topics they tackle and what marketing tactics they are doing.

Tip #6: Provide constant blog updates. Updates play a very important role in the success of blogs. If you want your readers to come back to your site, you must always provide them with great and fresh content. However, your updates must be controlled, depending on the type of your blog. If your blog is related to news, updates should be about 3-5 times a day. If you have an authoritative blog, a post of about 3-5 times weekly is needed. When you create content, you must always take into consideration its quality.
