How Do You Blog: 5 Tips for the Newbie

Getting started blogging can be an overwhelming task. When you first start, what is really a simple process can seem like an overwhelming learning event. Domains, hosts, traffic sources, topics, what is a blog entry, blog entries versus articles. It can seem like you're drowning in questions.

Relax, it really isn't that hard.

It may seem overwhelming but nothing is really that difficult. It's just a matter of working your way through the process. One step at a time.

Understanding what is important can help you to cut through the clutter of tasks. Yes, you still have to do them all. However, knowing which are important can make the workload seem more doable. In this article, I'm going to share 5 tips to help a new blogger by focusing on what is important.

1. Know Why You Are Blogging

Stephen Covey called this "begin with the end in mind". There are many reasons why you might want to blog. Both from a general point of view and a structural point of view. You will find that you have at least two levels of reasons for blogging. You need to spend some time clarifying your reasons for starting to blog. After all, your motivation will be driven by your reasons. Your rewards will be driven by your reasons. And most of the decisions will be driven by your reasons.

2. Plan Your Efforts

There are two reasons you are feeling overwhelmed right now. The first is that don't have a system to start a blog. The second is that you haven't developed a plan based on that system. So the first thing you need to do is make a list of the tasks you need to do to start your blog. Guestimate how long it will take to do each task. Then list the questions you need to ask yourself for each task. List the information you'll need to gather to answer those questions. Add a task to gather the information and guestimate how long it will take. Then schedule the time. You'll find that the feeling of overload will reduce. You may not be happy with how long it will take but at least you won't be disappointed!

3. Don't Forget the Traffic

A book without a reader is lonely. Your blog without a reader is just as sad and lonely. After all, the whole point of blogging is to be read. Now, in some cases, you may not care about general readers. For example, if you are blogging so a potential employer will understand you and be more open to hiring you. But if you are going to put in the effort to blog regularly, you need to have an audience. And that means you need to include finding traffic. There are many different ways to do this. But they all cost either time and energy or money. Even if you are using content marketing and tools to help market, it will still take time or money. Don't forget to include this time in all your plans and calculations.

4. Don't Bite Off More Than You Can Chew

Everyone starts off blogging with big ideas and wonderful dreams. I'm going to blog everyday becomes I'm going to blog three times a week. And then it becomes, "Oh, blast. I haven't blogged in a month!" You know how much time you have available in a week. Don't commit to more than you can reasonably accomplish. And remember, it will always take you longer to do the work than you expect.

5. Give Value -- But Not Too Much

Here's where it gets really interesting. If you are blogging for ego, there's no reason to hold back. But there's also no real reason to give value to your reader. Other than the fact that your reader won't return if you don't. However, if you are blogging for money you need to walk a balance beam. You need to provide valuable information. That's what will keep your readers coming back for more. However, you also need to avoid giving away the farm. If you are selling information, you need to hold back on some of the content. Otherwise, there will be no reason to buy your products.

Importance of Blogging Aspects

Interesting blog content will keep the consumers anticipating your next update. Coming up with interesting content for blogging and advertising of your products and services is helpful in capturing your potential customers' attention. This is important because it keeps them hooked and anticipating for more updates on what you can provide them in the future. Interesting business blogsite content can also leave a deep impression on your potential consumers. Therefore, this can help improve your chances of increasing your sales in the long run.

To come up with an interesting blog content, you should basically invent them. A good way of conveying your unique ideas is through blogging and advertising them. If you have difficulty in expressing your ideas, you may seek the help of a freelance writer to do the job for you. Because this generation appeals more on visual media, you may insert photos, videos, or widgets that can help enhance the appearance of your blogsite and can aid in capturing the attention of your target market.

Regularly updating the contents of your business blogsite is as important as coming up with the initial content. Ideally, you should do this on a weekly or monthly basis. The intervals of blogging content updates highly depend on the nature and type of product or service that you plan to advertise.

Knowledge in keyword use can help improve your current blogsite status. The nature of the keywords and the frequency of keyword appearance that you utilize can highly determine your online ranking using blogging method. This is especially true when your potential consumers attempt to search the product or service on a business listing directory. If you were able to affiliate your business blogsite with a trusted partner site, there is a large chance that your business traffic will increase because your potential consumers will often visit your business blogsite to look for products or services that they can avail.

Given the importance of keyword use in blogging, you should make sure that you will carefully select the appropriate keywords to increase your number of blogsite visitors. To do this, you may personally select keywords that you think your potential target market will often use to search for your product or service. If you find this somehow taxing, you may use keyword suggestion tools to get the job done. There are free keyword selection tools available on the web.

The tricky part on appropriate keyword selection on blogging is you have to strike a good balance between choosing common terminologies and using specific terms. This problem usually arises when you are planning to release a new line of product or service to the market. Conducting a thorough research about your target market can help you address this concern.

Passion in advertising and blogging can reflect your disposition as a marketer. That is, if you are enthusiastic in engaging with your potential consumers, they can somehow sense it through the words that you used for your blog content or through the overall effort that you placed in creating the entire site. Conversely, they can feel if you do not care about their welfare or if you are only after increasing your sales. Therefore, it is safe to say that blogging is important in this respect because it can bring your consumers the message without actually telling them everything. You can use this to your advantage by developing a genuine love for whatever online business you are currently engaged in.

What's on Your Mind? Blog It! It's Easy, Fun and We'll Show You How!

No, you do not have to be a professional writer or English Major to publish posts to the online world. And yes, anyone can do this and be up and running in no time (your kids probably already are)! You already have a spell/grammar checker - so all you need now is the right platform and training - and it's MUCH easier than you may be thinking...

Naturally, the more you blog the better you become - and the more traffic you'll receive as a result to promote and sell whatever it is you have to offer! To me, it's a great form of viral marketing and list-building.

So what do you write about?

The sky's the limit, really. You can write about your business, interests, views, hobbies and more. What are you passionate about? Ideas are all over the Internet - all you have to do is search and surf...

Pick out a few that pique your interest, dig in and read, read, read. Take notes - print off some hot topics (try not to go on brain overload). Check you source, but many folks are happy for you to use THEIR posts - as long as you do not change anything so they get the credit, including any links. Copy, paste, promote - they love it. Then all you have to do is add your take to it. (With good content, other bloggers may return the favor and post YOUR blog before too long!)

Use Google or your favorite search engine to search for blog posts. See what others are doing, and what's hot (being the one's on the first few pages of course). Search for blogs about your particular industry or interest and see what they are saying. Again, read, read, read. (You gotta read to lead.)

Before long, do you know what will happen?

You'll probably come to realize, "Heck, I can do better than that guy!" or, "This isn't as hard as I thought!"

Okay, you can do it after all - so now what?

Take action! Nothing happens until you take the first step. And do not wait until you feel that you're an expert or everything is just right (just write)! That's simply time wasted. You learn by doing, and you're not going to have a lot off traffic initially anyway.

How often should I blog? Daily - at least to start out and at least for 90 days. And of course, you need the right platform on which to blog, WordPress being by far the most popular.

Now go back and read the first paragraph again. If you want to save a ton of hours, frustration, trial and error, check out our group. The training and platform is there - along with an enormous, ever-increasing amount of high-quality traffic. When I said you can actually post your blog on the very first day, I was not kidding - can you plug-in a computer, boot it up and make some noise on the keyboard?

Then you're good to go! And best of all, by joining this community, you can also earn a tremendous income simply by referring others - and when you actually see what you're getting, you won't be able to help yourself. A great place to begin is by checking out my personal blog below. Good luck and God bless!

Good Auto Blogging Versus Bad Auto Blogging!

The subject of auto blogging is one which generates lots of controversy online, with some heated debates about whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. In this article I want to give examples of both...

The difference between good and bad auto blogging really boils down to what your intention is - are you using it to 'game' the search engines, or are you using it just as a technical tool to continue providing genuine content?

So let's start with the good blogging...

You may write blog posts once a week, or you may write 10 a day- in either case it may be that you want to set up some automatic posting. This means you don't have to be logged in or in front of a computer to publish posts.

You can write several in one sitting, or even just write a single post at a time that suits you, and then set them to be published at a different time.

For example, and this is something I've found a lot, if you start writing one post, but get 'in the zone' and write several posts, you don't want to publish them all at once, because that can lose the leverage power from each post.

What I mean by that is that when you publish a post, there are so many different ways you can use it to benefit, but if you publish too many posts too quickly, it can be hard to keep up, so you end up losing the very benefits you are trying to gain!

So, auto blogging allows you to set them to be published at intervals you choose, giving a more natural regular flow to your blog.

Nothing wrong with that, and a great example of good auto blogging. What about bad auto blogging?

Well, bad auto blogging usually comes in the form of software sold by internet marketers. They have picked up the problem that many people have, of content creation, and come up with the solution of software that 'scrapes' content from other websites.

It really is trying to play the search engines, because normally the software is set to pick up content which is keyword relevant to whatever your blog is about.

There are 3 main problems with this...

Firstly, the software may not give proper credit to the site it takes the content from. This is a legal minefield, and an ethical one too. Secondly, the content is often scraped in such a way that it makes terrible reading to visitors. Any traffic you do generate is hardly likely to stick around for long, because you aren't providing a genuine resource for them.

The third reason why this kind of auto blogging is bad, is because the search engines hate it, and rightly so, because of the bad results it gives to searchers that I just mentioned.

This means it is only a matter of time before they remove any blogs that you use this for, and may well take that further by delving in the other sites you have!

Software like this is usually sold with flashy hypey sales letters - easy to get sucked in with, but I'd advise against it. It doesn't help you or your visitors in the long run, and with a blog it's always the long term picture you should have in mind.

Using auto blogging to simply help with scheduling your posts? Well that's the good model, and software can be found cheaply or for free, so whenever you see a sales letter raving about the bells and whistles, stop and take a moment to ask yourself if it's the good or the bad version!
